"Torque and Axis" by Jared Steffensen opens at The Courtyard Gallery

Presented by UT Visual Arts Center at The Courtyard Gallery

The Courtyard Gallery features the artwork of alumni of the Department of Art and Art History in the College of Fine Arts. Alumnus Jared Steffensen's installation "Torque and Axis" will be on exhibition from May 7 – September 26. There will be a reception for the exhibition on Thursday May 1. Gallery admission is free and open to the public.

Jared Steffensen was born in Fairfax, Virginia. He earned a BFA in Intermedia Sculpture from the University of Utah in 2002 and an MFA from The University of Texas at Austin in 2006. Steffensen seemingly joins disparate realms through geometric abstraction. He was a recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation MFA Grant in 2006. His work has been exhibited throughout the U.S., in Mexico, Germany, and The Netherlands. He is currently Curator of Education at the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Courtyard Gallery is the result of a collaborative effort between the Office of the Vice President for University Operations and the College of Fine Arts. There will be three Department of Art and Art History faculty and alumni exhibitions a year in this space curated by the Visual Arts Center Director Jade Walker. All of the works in the Courtyard Gallery are for sale through the hotel gift shop.
