Viscosity

Viscosity

Presented by Flash Collective at Link & Pin Gallery

Viscosity is a visual art exhibition featuring hand pulled prints by 24 self identified female artists of varying ethnic backgrounds from around the United States, Canada and Finland. A term often used in the print studio, viscosity refers to the degree of ink’s resistance to flow, or its ability to adhere to a surface. In this exhibition, the term functions as a metaphor for the shifting status of women in the field of print. The increase of women in print has not yielded an equitable space for the female voice within this arena. Viscosity is a declaration against marginalization.

Viscosity consists of work by each by the following artists: Judith Baumann, Marissa Cartagena, Deborah Chaney, Veronica Ceci, Candice Corgan, Ana Cortez, Maria Erikson, Jill Graham, Rachel Heberling, Maggie Lomeli, Elizabeth Melnyczuk, Jack Michael, Ashley Ortiz-Diaz, Angela Pilgrim, Kathryn Polk, Jessica Robles, Zeinab Saab, Kristin Sarette, Beth Sheehan, Lyla Shlon, Klaire Smith, Bryn Sumner, Ashley Taylor and Erika Walker.
