CAMIBAart proudly presents “WHO WE ARE: memories, myths, & fantasies” featuring art by Patrick Palmer, Yuliya Lanina, and Matthew Gantt.  Referencing the human form, each of these artists uses their own unique style to create characters that engage the viewer in examining who we are.  The “we” in “Who We Are” should be read as all-inclusive: who the characters are, who the views are, who the artists are, and who we are as a society or a tribe or a race.

Consider the proposition that we are our memories, we are our myths, and we are our fantasies.  Memories of where we come from, memories of events in our lives, and memories of people we’ve known.  Myths we have been told, myths we believe, and myths we have made up about our lives and others.  Fantasies of our future, fantasies of our longings, and fantasies of our hopes and dreams.  These memories, myths, and fantasies shape how we see the world, how we interpret the world, and how we see art.
