Down in Houston: Gallery Exhibit Opening

Down in Houston: Gallery Exhibit Opening

Presented by Texas Folklife at Texas Folklife

Texas Folklife invites you to the exhibit opening of “Down in Houston” at the Texas Folklife Gallery. This exhibit features photography by James Fraher and text by Roger Wood who have been documenting the blues in Houston since 1995 in their book “Down in Houston: Bayou City Blues.” Their work tells the story of the musicians who gave voice to a working-class community, a still ongoing conversation about good times and hard times, smokin’ Saturday nights and blue Mondays.

The event will also feature a live blues band and commentary by exhibit curators. We hope you will join us for a taste of Bayou City Blues at the Texas Folklife Gallery!
