Ottmar Liebert

Presented by One World Theatre at One World Theatre

Six-time GRAMMY nominee and guitar instrumentalist Ottmar Liebert returns to One World Theatre with his highly successful take on flamenco. Born in Cologne, Germany to a Chinese-German father and a Hungarian mother, Liebert’s travels took him throughout Russia and Asia before settling in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His Nouveau Flamenco topped the New Age Album chart in 1990. Since then he has continued to dominate the New Age genre with Poets, Solo Para Ti, The Hours Between Day + Night, Opium, Winter Rose, Petals On the Path, and 2013’s Dune.

Liebert’s engaging mix of subdued flamenco guitar, South American percussion, rock, jazz, and pop influenced pieces have alerted audiences to his instinctual feel for the guitar. His mesmerizing and sensual expressions have been a favorite of One World Theatre audiences. He continues to improve his craft, drawing influence from Carlos Santana, Paco de Lucia, John McLaughlin, Robert Fripp, and Jeff Beck. His fans note his calming presence, a nod to his Zen lifestyle.

His most recent works, Three-oh-five and Bare Wood, drift into a different brew of blues, jazz, and even pop. Bare Wood might have started with leftover songs, but the results are stripped-down, engaging pieces.
