The Austin Symphony will kick off its 108th season with “The Mighty Russians Part III”.
The Austin Symphony will kick off its 108th season with “The Mighty Russians Part III” featuring three great composers: Alexander Glazunov, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Piano phenom Lise de la Salle will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1. A piece he composed at the ripe old age of 18 years! A native of France, Ms. de la Salle first came to international attention in 2005, at the age of 16, with a Bach/Liszt recording that Gramophone Magazine selected as, “Recording of the Month.”
The evening will begin with Alexander Glazunov’s Carnaval Overture and end with Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s amazing Manfred.
Still want more? How about playing on some string instruments provided by our friends at Violin’s Etc.? Hear a Steinway Spirio play music by the actual artist like Rachmaninoff, Cliburn, Rubenstein, and more! We also have a wonderful pre-concert talk given by Bob Buckalew at 7:10 pm.
