Guardia Vieja and Austin Urban Tango bring to you a unique Argentine Tango Experience with El Cachivache!

El Cachivache Quinteto is currently one of the most popular tango groups and is widely recognized on the world music circuit. Sometimes called ‘Tango Punk’ ‘, the group is characterized by its undeniably creative, original, and very “danceable ” style.

Join us on September 27, 2018 for a special debut concert with El Cachivache! This is an exclusive show and El Cachivache’s debut in Texas. Whether you are new to Tango or a seasoned social dancer, we hope to inspire you with this unique event.

El Cachivache will be playing two sets and in the first we invite you to listen to their unique Tango Punk style and watch as Ciko (Cigdem Tanik) and Mauro Peralta perform. Towards the end of this first set and for the duration of the second, we invite social dancers to join the band in expressing their own creativity. Throughout the night, there will also be a DJ to keep you dancing, when the band is not playing.

The event is also sponsored by Chameleon Cold Brew, Cocktails by Dulce Vida Tequila and Cathead Distilleries.  We will also be partnering with Drink Slingers and Tamale Addiction to provide beverage and food services.

Not enough for you?! Well, there is more!

El Cachivache will also be offering a special Master Class in advance of the show on Wednesday, Septmeber 26th. The Master Class will provide a brief history and evolution of tango music and where El Cachivache fits in today. This class does not require dance experience, and is open to dancers and non-dancers, alike. The class is 1.5 hours in duration and will be held at a separate location in the evening. Stay tuned for the exact time and location, as we are continuing to finalize these details.

We are also extremely fortunate and excited to have Ciko (Cigdem Tanik) in town from NYC! She will be spending an extended period of time in Austin, so please feel free to reach out to us to schedule privates (pooja@guardiaviejaatx.com). In addition to privates, Ciko and Mauro will be partnering to offer three workshops on Friday, September 28th and Saturday, September 29th.  Last, but certainly not least, Ciko will also be DJing a special send off event, Milonga Urbana, on Saturday, September 29th, starting at 9pm.
