Dance Africa Fest is a two-day conference featuring internationally renowned artists in African Diaspora dance, drum, and vocal workshops. Other highlights include special free dance workshops for children and the community, and a Vendor Marketplace.
On August 11-12, 2018, Dance Africa Fest presents a powerhouse lineup focusing on dance traditions of Guinea (Ismael Kouyaté), Haitian Vodou dance (Jean-Sebastien Duvilaire), Trini-style Carnival dance (Adanna Jones, Ph.D.), New Orleans Second Line (Michelle N. Gibson), and Capoeira (Crianças De Capoeira Angola). Taught by experts, these high-energy workshops introduce students to a unique blend of traditional and modern dance techniques, with many classes incorporating music performed by some of Austin’s best musicians.
12 noon – 6pm daily: Vendor Market featuring unique/handmade goods, crafts (Free admission).
** Workshops are free for children 10 years old and under (must have parent or guardian on site).

Tickets: Pre-registration recommended as space is limited. Tickets $20.00 per workshop.
All levels welcome.
