A space for diverse artists to experiment, take chances in a safe space, and support each other. Come join a community of diverse artists in this bimonthly works-in-progress event.
Contact Groundwork to sign up for a slot for you or your group; artists of color are especially welcome! Do the work, show the work! Performance art, script readings, films, sketches, scene workshopping, and anything else that will not damage the stage, or hurt you or others. You can choose to receive written feedback by the audience, or hold a quick Q&A after your piece to get live feedback. Each act will be generally limited to about 15 minutes, but that’s always negotiable depending on number of acts for that evening.
Not performing? Come watch, support, give feedback, hug-an-artist, or just be in a space of creativity and risk taking. Everyone gets a program of the evening’s acts including a space for written feedback for each artist/act. Groundwork collects the programs at the end of the event. If an artist/act has requested feedback, Groundwork will forward the feedback on. (Actors are always needed for script readings!)
Featuring works in progress by Lucky Chaos company members, Hot Pot Comedy, and other artists. Sign up! Resident Act: Lucky Chaos Lion Dance Team – reinterpreting an ancient artform for contemporary storytelling at Motion Media Arts Center (aka Austin School of Film)
