How do we color the knowledge of stellar embodiments?
Dora Santana addresses this question and showcases her new work. Santana illustrates different pictorial and semantic possibilities of “star” to connect transitioning movements of trans women of color. In her work, Trans* and transitioning represent the undirected movement across imposed lines of racializing genders, across the secular and the sacred, beyond imposed imaginaries of premature death. The use of stellar image and language has been part of the legacies of trans people of color resistance.
