BON TROYAGE: a 4th of JULY Fundraiser for local charities w. host Troy Dillinger

Presented by Austin Variety Show at Saxon Pub

After 40+ years as an Austinite, Troy Dillinger (musician, comedian, film & television producer, actor, entrepreneur and community organizer), is relocating permanently to Los Angeles. As a fond farewell to the city he’s called home most of his life, he’s gathering over 40 years of friends, artists and small businesses to celebrate his life in Austin, and using the occasion to raise money for organizations which contribute greatly to Austin’s heart and soul.

On July 4th, Dillinger and scores of Austin friends old and new will celebrate “all things Austin” at the Saxon Pub on S. Lamar from 7pm-midnight with some fireworks of their own. A $20 suggested donation will entitle attendees to 5 hours of great Austin music and comedy, and proceeds will benefit Austin non-profits SIMS Foundation, Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), Central Texas Food Bank, all of whom make life in Austin better for those in need. Food will be provided by several Austin eateries, as will silent auction items. As an equitable act of fundraising, half the proceeds will be paid to the performers for their time and resources to help the fundraising efforts. Nobody will be turned away, regardless their ability to pay.

Dillinger began playing music professionally in 1983 in Austin nightclubs, and has toured and released records around the world since. In the 90’s he began working as an actor, and in the early 2000’s he produced his first film project, which won awards in several film festivals as well as an Austin Chronicle Music Award for DVD of the Year. In 2006, he created a weekly event which became Adult Swim Presents (the experiential marketing division of the television network) and also became a standup comedian. In 2008 he founded Save Austin Music to assist musicians who were feeling the pains of Austin’s unchecked growth as a city. In 2010, Dillinger launched his own television production, the Austin Variety Show, which aired on local broadcast station KBVO for 3 years before moving to the internet for several more years. The 1 hour weekly television broadcast showcased Austin music, comedy, burlesque and other performers and even had national guests like comedian and podcaster Marc Maron.

Dillinger began living part time in Los Angeles in January of 2017, where he’s been working as a standup comic and actor, while pitching shows to production companies in Hollywood. He’s been a regular performer at The World Famous Comedy Store, and the Hollywood Improv and several other comedy venues in the LA area.
