For just over 2 years, the 20 member artist run collective has built ICOSA from the ground up with their own sweat equity. Aiming to create a space free from the confines of traditional galleries, a diverse group of creatives transformed a greasy auto shop to a white walled gallery. ICOSA has staged 21 exhibitions since they first opened, with over 5000 visitors walking through our doors.

Like many art venues in Austin, they are now forced to move due to surging development and rising costs. Although ICOSA is excited about their new home at the Canopy Complex, the move will require additional funds to maximize their smaller square footage and support their ambitious programming in the coming year. ICOSA is asking for the help of our community and launching a Kickstarter to make this transition possible. Join them for their last night at the current ICOSA location for a Kickstarter launch party and closing of their current show “these, our precious scars,” by Erin Cunningham and Alyssa Taylor Wendt. The festivities will be held on May 19th, from 7-10pm with BBQ, snow cones and music to celebrate all of the good times and great art that have passed between these walls!
