An intercultural mixer and panel moderated by Hema Mullur (KEYE) with a visiting author from Pune, Maharashtra, India and local Hispanic, African American, and Indian American authors.
A collaborative program between the Asian American Resource Center and the Austin-Pune Sister City Initiative, this intercultural literary exchange will feature a discussion between authors from Pune, India and Austin, Texas, from various different cultural backgrounds, discussing their literary experiences and how literature can unite communities. Visiting Indian author, Manjiri Dhamankar of Pune, Maharashtra, India, will be joined by award-winning Hispanic author, Antonio Ruiz-Camacho, Chicana poet, Ire’ne Lara Silva, African American UT English professor, Dr. Helena Woodard, and Indian American poet, Saryu Parikh. The event will begin with a short mixer where audience members can meet the authors, followed by the discussion hosted by KEYE anchor Hema Mullur.
