Ableton + MBPT Present Adam Neely

Ableton + MBPT Present Adam Neely

Presented by Music Business, Performance and Technology at Austin Community College Northridge

Adam Neely is a the New York- based session bassist, multi-instrumentalist, educator and YouTuber. His hugely popular YouTube channel that is dedicated to exploring new horizons in music. His show investigates musical concepts and curiosities in a series of video essays that challenge assumptions about what music truly is. Adam’s videos cover topics as simple as “What makes a song sound like Christmas?” or “Which key is the saddest?” and as esoteric as “Musical Fractals” and “Jazz fusion re-harmonization” – all in a tone that’s as witty and accessible as it is informative and brain-frying.

In this presentation, Adam will break down the Live set of his electrojazz project Sungazer, and show how he uses Live to control live visuals, acoustic drum synths, and improvise using session view. He’ll also break down how he manipulated the vocal stem of All-Star by Smash Mouth to sound like the Rite of Spring using Ableton Live’s native time stretching features.

Plus we will have a session from 6:30-7:00 with Ableton Certified Trainer Alberto Chapa for anyone that is new to making music with Ableton Live.
