Come join the discussion with some of Texas’s leading Black, Hispanic, and Asian authors about their latest books.
The Celebration of Diverse Literary Voices of Texas features a wide array of diverse authors of fiction and nonfiction discussing their latest work and how they were inspired. It features Austin writers Natalia Sylvester, author of an upcoming novel about immigration and a Mexican American family, EVERYONE KNOWS YOU GO HOME; Nicky Drayden, author of a science fiction novel set in South Africa in 2045, THE PREY OF GODS; John Moran Gonzalez, editor of THE CAMBRIDGE COMPANION TO LATINA(O) AMERICAN LITERATURE; Evelyn Palfrey, author of the black romance novel, GOING HOME; Chaitali Sen, author of a haunting novel of political turmoil and ethnic conflict set in a fictional country in Asia, THE PATHLESS SKY; and Jacob Grovey, author the children’s book THE ADVENTURES OF AUSTYN: A Visit to Dino Land.
It also features Texas writers Michael Hurd, author of THURSDAY NIGHT LIGHTS: The Story of Black High School Football in Texas, and Karen Kossie-Cherynshev, editor of the first Texas black romance novel originally published in 1949 and written by Lillian Jones Horace, ANGIE BROWN. This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
