Siblings come home to visit their father and discover all the ways they’ve grown apart, and the secrets they’ve kept hidden.
Liberal Jewish studies professor Michael Fischer has reunited with his two sisters to celebrate their father’s 75th birthday. Each deeply invested in their own version of family history, the siblings clash over Michael’s controversial book, caring for an ailing parent, and a secret each person has been carrying. As long-held resentments are revealed, the three negotiate their past with biting humor and razor-sharp insight.
If I Forget tells a powerful tale of a family and a culture at odds with itself.
From Steven Levenson, acclaimed writer of Dear Evan Hansen and The Language of Trees, comes If I Forget, a sharply funny, and deeply honest new play about the stories we choose to believe and the hurt only our nearest and dearest can inflict.
Directed by Kat Sparks (Exit 27, Cages).
Presented by Southwest Theatre Productions.
If I Forget is generously supported, in part, by public funds from the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
