Texas’ original cinematic celebration of disability.
The Festival opens on Friday with My Bionic Pet (2014). Have you ever seen a pig in a wheelchair? How about an alligator with a prosthetic tail? Originally aired as a NATURE documentary, My Bionic Pet takes a look at animals with injuries or disabilities—and the custom prosthetics their humans develop for them. Stick around after the film for a Skype Q&A with My Bionic Pet star, Chris P. Bacon!
Join cohosts the Austin Animal Center before the show to meet Austin-based bionic pet and Instagram star Elmer the cat!
Saturday night, we turn to the human experience of using today’s most advanced artificial limbs with documentary Out on a Limb (2011).
Before the show, check out how e-NABLE UT uses 3D printers to build custom prosthetics for children.
Then afterwards, join us for a panel on prosthetics today with local athlete Greg LaKomski, e-NABLE UT president and founder Glori Das, and others!
Support Cinema Touching Disability at our closing night live auction—bid on a one-of-a-kind Delaney electric guitar!
Both nights, the Festival will screen winners from its international Short Film Competition. Vote in our Audience Favorite poll!
