A Moon of My Own

A Moon of My Own

Presented by Pollyanna Theatre Company at The Long Center: Debra & Kevin Rollins Studio Theatre

A Moon of My Own tells the story of a girl who takes nighttime adventures with her faithful companion the moon. Told through movement and heartfelt humor, this new play invites audiences to journey along with Avanjali as she explores fantastic places around the world, from the Great Barrier Reef to the Amazon Rainforest. Using the imaginative book, playwright Andrew Perry has created a playful story about geography, science, and the people all over the globe who share the same Moon.

When asked what she wishes readers and audience members will take away from this story, Jennifer Rustgi says, “I hope it conveys a sense of ‘oneness’ and cultivates a sense of wonder. No matter where we are on Earth, we are all under the same Moon. That’s a pretty steep concept for children to get, but I believe there’s great value in helping kids understand that we are part of a much bigger world full of different cultures. And there is so much to appreciate in our beautiful world! I think we’re all happier when we allow ourselves (and our children) to slow down and see it.”

As with all Pollyanna Theatre productions, the cast is comprised of adult, professional actors, including Chloe Cox, Martinique Duchene, and William Swift. The show is directed by Judy Matetzschk-Campbell with Sound Design and Stage Management by Andrew Perry, Costume Design by Colleen McCool, Set Design by Chase Staggs, Light Design by Natalie George and Choreography by Kelly Hasandras.
