Ballet Austin acknowledges the arts and arts education as essential elements in the educational process necessary for the intellectual and social development of all humans. Ballet Austin is committed to offering educators resources and opportunities to provide young people with arts experiences, specifically dance.
Research demonstrates that students benefit socially and academically from sustained involvement in the arts. Students in arts-rich environments have higher concepts of their academic ability, are achieving at higher rates on standardized test scores and are more engaged in schools.

Dancers from Ballet Austin’s exclusive Butler Fellowship Program perform nine excerpts from The Carnival of the Animals with choreography by Ballet Austin’s Artistic Director Stephen Mills and original music by Camille Saint Saëns.
Students participate in choreographing a short dance phrase that is eventually incorporated into the ballet. We also discuss basic elements of dance choreography, including shape, action, space, time, and partnering. This 50-minute program is presented at Ballet Austin or in schools.

Performances at Ballet Austin take place in the AustinVentures StudioTheater. Technical requirements will be discussed individually if scheduling on your school’s campus.
