Jody Cassell is a Teaching Artist in Dance, dancing storyteller and author of the children’s book Where’s Leon? published by CPCC, Charlotte, NC. She earned a M.F.A. in Dance from New York University School of the Arts, New York, NY and M.S. (Dance/movement Therapy) from Hunter College of the City University of New York, NY. Cassell has been dancing since age four. As a Teaching Artist in Dance and Professional Development provider, she speciaizes in the integration of curriculum an dance/creative movement. She is a Master Artist for the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through the Arts based in Vienna, VA. Her work has been presented along the east coast, in the mid-west, and as part of Wolf Trap’s and Kennedy Center’s Professional Development series.
Cassell is a recipient of the 2010-2011 Ella Foundtain Pratt Emerging Artist Award from the Durham Arts Council. Her project is to study voice.
Jody believes that the more movement possibilities we have, the more life possibilities we have. She enjoys working with all human beings including those with special learning styles and needs.
