The Stuffed Animal Rescue Foundation is dedicated to the mental and physical rehabilitation of abandoned stuffed animals. The one-woman organization has been in operation since 2010 under the watchful eye and erratic pen of Austin artist Wendy Mitchell, and has facilitated over 300 stuffed animal adoptions.
Perhaps you have seen a Stuffed Animal Petting Zoo on 37th Street in December? Now there is an official headquarters, located at 2825 Hancock Dr. #111 Austin, TX 78731.
The SARF Headquarters features rotating shows with varying themes in the gallery, in addition to a permanent administrative office where you can observe stuffed employees hard at work keeping the organization afloat.
In addition, there is a chaotic workshop area that may or may not be presentable for public viewing, where the artist/Chief Operating Officer conducts medical services for stuffies, in addition to various workshops for stuffed animals and/or their living companions.
Open hours are announced in advance. Visit thesarf.org for information about shows, repairs, donations, and possible answers to any other questions you may have about the stuffed animal community.
