MamaJama Productions

MamaJama Productions was conceived in the late 1980’s at Oberlin College in Ohio. From improvised performances in Germany to playing with Oberlin’s Chamber Orchestra at Lincoln Center, classmates Jessica Gilliam-Valls and Sally Barr knew that they had aspirations beyond the recital, orchestra, and soloist paths alone. Gilliam- Valls and Barr’s curiosity and boundless love of music would lead them beyond the classical world to place that afforded them the influence of many genres. As their lives started to take them to separate geographical locations, they came together as often as they could, performing and continuing to make plans for their future. In 2005, MamaJama Productions was born, with concert events in Austin, TX and Santa Barbara, CA.
