One goal of improvisational comedy besides getting laughs is creating a unified, thematic "work" (of art if you like) based on an audience suggestion. No improv format does that better than "The Harold" –a classic format akin to the 12-bar blues in music. Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City all champion the Harold. Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Bill Murray, Robin Williams, Jonathan Winters and Eddie Izzard all know the Harold. While Austin’s improv comedy scene is growing by leaps-and-bounds, the Harold hasn’t seen much action. Enter Boy Toy, Austin’s premiere Harold troupe. Made-up of instructors and graduates of ColdTowne Theater, Boy Toy strives for the work-of-comedy for which the Harold was built: a self-contained, long-form, hilarious improvised comedy play in every performance. Catch Boy Toy every single Saturday of the year at ColdTowne Theater (7pm). No two shows alike, guaranteed.
