The mission of the Austin String Quartet is a two-part mission. The first part is to bring a four-concert string quartet series to Austin featuring the principal string players of the Austin Symphony. The quartet is very pleased to announce the fulfillment of this mission with their first full season to take place 2008-2009 at the acoustically brilliant St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
The second part of the quartet mission is education. Through cooperation with Austin area schools as well as outreach programs, the quartet aims to make a positive difference in the lives of youth and the future of the arts by exposing young people today to the wonders of the stringed instruments and the string quartet literature.
