The African American Technical Resource Center (AAATRC) was founded in 2001 by Boyd Vance, then director of ProArts Collective. AAATRC was founded to specifically assist Black artists develop programs for the Austin community. Continuing as a special project of ProArts Collective, AAATRC has provided services for over 100 artists of all cultural and ethnic backgrounds in all genres of public art including theater, writing, music, dance and the visual arts.  Today as its own 501 (c ) 3 The African-American Artists Technical Resource Center (AAATRC) works with artists, small arts organizations, businesses and other community members in its effort to use the arts as a tool for community development. AAATRC has three areas of focus, community cultural development, art and community collaborations and artists professional services.
