Tapestry Singers Spring Concert: "How to Make an American Quilt"

Tapestry Singers, Austin’s Women’s Chorus, is proud to present “How to Make an American Quilt,” its 2019 Spring Concert. Since 1987, Tapestry Singers has encouraged women, regardless of race, color, sexual identity, or vocal confidence, to explore their singing abilities and experience the joy and healing that comes from music and singing.

Inspired by the varied patchwork of women’s lives and experiences in our country, this concert blends traditional folk songs with pieces drawn from the writings of literary and historical figures Susan B. Anthony, Abigail Adams, Margaret Walker, Louisa May Alcott, and Eleanor Roosevelt among others. In keeping with past Tapestry concerts, this concert includes a diverse range of pieces, from well-known favorites like “Shenandoah”, to “Astonishing,” from the Broadway adaptation of Little Women, to India Arie’s “I am Light”, and Kim Baryluk’s “Warrior”. Join us for this life-affirming musical celebration of women with Tapestry Singers this spring.
