Screening two new short films for young people

Two new documentary shorts for young people about the importance of collective action, organizing, and solidarity.

Excerpted in part from “A Strike and an Uprising (in Texas)” winner of an audience award from Cine Las Americas, two new short films for young people. One 14 minute film tells the story of Annie Mae Carpenter, Secretary of the Nacogdoches chapter of the NAACP. In 1973, she refused to clean the male student restrooms at Stephen F. Before the Borders is a day long community arts event for young people. Local Austin youth are invited to meet community organizations and local artists, as well as enjoy cultural educational workshops throughout the day.
