The Music That Made Austin, “Austin.”
Once known for its German dancehalls, in the mid-1970s a new musical form was created in Austin that propelled it onto the national stage: Progressive Country. Take the classic songs by iconic Texas songwriters like Jerry Jeff Walker, Townes Van Zandt, Michael Murphy, Willie Nelson and Guy Clark, build a rockin’ fire under them and you’ve got the music that made Austin, “Austin.”
