High Noon Talk: Austin's First Public Schools
At February’s High Noon Talk, join Austin History Center curator Molly Hults for a discussion about the exhibition, Making the Grade: Austin’s First Public Schools. The exhibit details the difficulties Austin faced in establishing a free public school system in the 1870s and utilizes historic documents and ephemera to explore what life was like for students and teachers in the early years of the Austin public schools.
