The celebration is hosted by the Austin Moonflower Performing Arts Group, featuring special guest professional performances and a variety of Chinese finger foods. It is a fully immersive multicultural experience that you will love to enjoy.
The Chinese Lantern Festival is the first full moon right after new year. It falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month – typically February or March. The celebration represents happiness and good luck for families in the new year. Varieties of lanterns are hung in the streets and children make their own to show off in village parades. Other tradition include enjoy the moon and solving the riddles on the lanterns.
