Chinese Lantern Festival Celebration

The Chinese Lantern Festival is the first full moon right after new year. It falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month – typically February or March. The celebration represents happiness and good luck for families in the new year. Varieties of lanterns are hung in the streets and children make their own to show off in village parades. Other tradition include enjoy the moon and solving the riddles on the lanterns.

This celebration event is hosted by the Austin Moonflower Performing Arts Group, showcasing Chinese folk dance, singing and Kung Fu, also featuring many special award winning professional guest performances, including Beijing Opera, Chinese instrument Guzhen, magic Face Change, soprano solo, cello, trumpet, gymnastics… The ticket also includes sampling a wide variety of Chinese foods, e.g. Rice Cake, Grilled Pork, Pot Sticker, and more. Come to enjoy this fully immersive Chinese cultural experience!
