Carna-Fall at Esquina Tango

Saúde! We’re taking a musical trip down to Brazil and Argentina for this concert celebrating tango and the spirit of passion, heartbreak, and nostalgia that is infused into its insatiable rhythms. The concert will include tango classics such as El choclo by Ángel Villoldo, Odeon by Ernesto Nazareth, selections by Astor Piazzolla, and much more! Fall in love this Fall with Carna-Fall!

Beerthoven welcomes the violin and cello pairing of Duo-B, made up of Hirono and Philip Borter. Duo-B creates distinct programs of international music in a variety of genres, often through new and original arrangements, and have shared these unique and innovative programs on three continents and in special album releases. The Borters will be making the drive down from Waco, TX where they are string faculty members at Baylor University.

During intermissions, guests will enjoy the feats and wizardry of Dylan Love, performing magic that will amaze and delight.

This performance will take place at Esquina Tango, an East Austin Latin cultural center. Since its founding in 2006 and the renovation of an old church into a dance studio in one of Austin’s most diverse neighborhoods, Esquina Tango has provided the Austin community with over 5,000 classes and more than 240 cultural events and hopes to continue to positively change peoples’ lives through dance and culture.

About Beerthoven:

The critically-acclaimed Beerthoven Concert Series is a down-to-earth, approachable celebration of classical song, chamber music, and beer; a quirky mixture of Bach and Doppelbock in unique and intimate settings. Beerthoven finds its inspiration in the musical and festive events of the Austin Saengerrunde as well as the private “salon” concerts of Beethoven’s time. Beerthoven events feature live classical music, free beer, and other refreshments and snacks in an all-inclusive manner. There is no backstage here; audience members may even find themselves standing in line for beer with the performers.

Programming is intentionally diverse in tone, instrumentation, and featured performers. Beerthoven supports local artists by offering fair compensation and unique performance venues. Audience members will find our prices at the very low end of typical classical concerts–especially for students and especially given the high quality of the exbeerience.
