Clips from a documentary-in-progress that explores the life and legacy of Earl Gilmore—gay, African-American, devout Christian, Blues singer, carnival hoochie coochie dancer, coal miner, gospel choir director, and Ford Fellow, born in 1924. Earl grew up and lived out his life in the small, Appalachian coal camp of Clinchco, VA–inventing himself. Discussion with the director will follow.
