Austin Troubadours Present - Balkan Caravan

Austin Troubadours will present a concert of traditional music from the Balkan region on April 23rd at George Washington Carver Museum in Austin. An evening of traditional dances and songs from Serbia, Macedonia, Turkey and Greece; performed on authentic instruments from the Balkan region (Oud, saz, frula, violin, daf…) Join us for a Balkan-style show of ancient tunes, hypnotic rhythms and lively melodies from the old world. The Austin Troubadours are joining forces with Austin’s favorite world music stars, Roberto Riggio (violin), Julie Slim-Nessif and Vesna Mirkovic (vocals) for a unique celebration of the Balkan music. Electrifying!

“This is a truly unique musical concept, as most of the music that we will present has never been performed in Texas”, says Slobodan Vujisic, the artistic Director of Austin Troubadours. “The focal point of the concert is the comparison of the musical styles is from the Jewish, Christian and Muslim musical traditions of the Balkans, the melting pot of different cultures and religions.”
