Come celebrate our city’s buzz-worthy short fiction scene at the Elisabet Ney Museum as we host the Austin Short Short Festival! On Sunday April 24 from 1-4PM, ten authors will read their best short short fiction piece (<1000 words) aloud at the Ney. Several will have been successful entrants in Bat City Press’s Short Short Fiction Contest. We also hope to have a couple of nationally-known surprise readers. Accomplished local authors Elizabeth McCracken, Deb Olin Unferth, Antonio Ruiz-Camacho and Mary Helen Specht will curate the readings and host the day’s events. Austin Public Library Friends Foundation’s Badgerdog Creative Writing Program will be present with children’s writing workshops, and booths from local publishers and writing groups will also be featured. This event will complement the Austin Public Library Friends Foundation’s New Fiction Confab, which, not entirely coincidentally, will occur the day before (Saturday April 23).
Children’s activities, food trucks and literary booths will be featured 1:00 to 4:00 PM, Sunday April 24, 2016
Elisabet Ney Museum, 304 E 44th Street, Austin 78751; Phone: 512-458-2255
Admission as always is free.
