The award-winning artists of ARCOS pursue their mission—to experiment rigorously to discover adventurous new forms of contemporary performance—by regularly offering their approach to development and training to fellow artists working at the professional level to refine and expand their personal practices. Twice a year, dance artists from across the country gather to immerse themselves in technical exploration, deeply investigate their personal voices as performers and creators, and forge connections with fellow artists, in and out of the studio.
This January welcomes 21 emerging and established dance professionals from Oklahoma, Iowa, Ohio, and all over Texas. This Social Showing is the culmination of the week’s exploration including ARCOS repertoire, class material, choreographic composition, and the presentation of participant’s work created in our New Media lab with guests artists from Dadageek (www.dadageek.com). The showing will conclude with an informal talk-back with particpants, directors, and guests instructors, and champagne toast to the New Year. A $5-$10 donation benefits our professional artist scholarship fund.
