The Austin History Center, a division of the Austin Public Library, was built in 1933 as the first public library in Austin. It also features a handsome meeting room that is available to local nonprofits. It also hosts many historical exhibits, many of which are available online.

In 2008, the Austin History Center was featured in KLRU's Emmy-award winning show Downtown, produced by the Downtown Austin Alliance. Click here to watch this 9 minute video about the Center.
