    Discovering local art and artists for thirty years. The DAC offers a variety of visual and performing arts experiences for audiences of all ages. Featuring community theater and gallery space, adult and child classes in visual arts and the most popular summer camps in town.

    The Dougherty Arts Center Theatre is a 3,700 square-foot venue. It stands on the same site once occupied by the Naval and Marine Reserve Center in 1947. In 1978 the space was dedicated to the City of Austin and named for the late Mary Ireland Graves Dougherty. Today the "DAC" offers a variety of visual and performing arts programs.

    The DAC houses an 1800 square foot gallery, a 150 seat theater, equipped with lighting and sound systems, as well as a box office. Its a specialized art school, studio/lab space and classrooms and several offices of PARD's Cultural Affairs Division. includes a concession area, dressing rooms, showers, a gallery entrance, and an outdoor marquee. The facility works with performing arts organizations such as Onstage Theatre Company, Second Youth Theatre, Different Stages, and Easy Theatre to present quality theatre works to the Austin community.

    Cultural Affairs Division Administration is officed at the DAC along with the Zilker Hillside Theater and the Trail of Lights Festival.
