As the art museum of a major research university, the University of Texas at Austin, the Blanton Museum of Art is committed to being a center of excellence, knowledge and learning, building the finest collections possible, and serving as a vital resource for teaching in a broad variety of disciplines. As the principal art museum in a major metropolitan area and state capital, the Blanton Museum of Art is committed to be a welcoming place for all visitors, building a lively and engaged community of art lovers of all ages, and serving as a gateway between the University, the city of Austin, and the state of Texas. Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 10:00am-5:00pm, Thursday 10:00am-8:00pm, Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm, Closed Monday Price: $5/Adults, $4/Seniors (65+), $3/Children (ages 13-25), Free/Children (12 and under) and Blanton Members

      06/20/13	Blanton Museum Contemporary Artist Panel: Fascination with Realism Blanton Museum of Art Blanton Museum Contemporary Artist Panel: Fascination with Realism Presented by Blanton Museum of Art at Blanton Museum of Art June 20, 2013 Three leading figures in contemporary art, Keith Edmier, Peter Rostovsky, and Isaac Layman, will discuss their diverse works included in the Blanton’s summer exhibition Lifelike, in a conversation with the exhibition’s curator, Siri Engberg of the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The panel will explore artists’ fascination with realism and the ways in which its been integrated into contemporary art from the 1960s to present.

Luminous celebrates some of the finest prints and drawings in the Blanton’s collection by artists such as Raphael, Rembrandt van Rijn, Edgar Degas, and Jasper Johns.
