    Leon Rodriguez began playing guitar at 3 years old, wrote his first play at 8 years old, played his first professional gig at 13 years old, set up his first darkroom and shot 8mm surfing movies at 14 yrs old. Leon promoted his first of many concerts at 15 years old. He has never really changed directions in all of his 58 years of living.

    Leon holds college degrees in Communications (Writing), Electronics, Music Arranging and Engineering Technology (Physics).

    As a Sound Engineer and Producer, his list of scores of regular clients over a 23 year period include names like Frank Zappa (5 years), Harry Belafonte, Electric Light Orchestra, Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, Mahavishnu Orchestra, John McLaughlin’s Shakti, Kitaro, Maynard Ferguson, Jimmie Vaughan, The Austin Opera House, Donavan, The Armadillo World Headquarters, Jerry Goodman, Weather Report, Ronnie Millsap, Asleep at the Wheel, Delbert McClinton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, George Duke, Nancy Wilson, Tom Waits, Kitaro, Joe Ely, B.B. King… The list goes on and on.

    An excellent guitarist, he has performed with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Chet Baker, The Heat Wave, The Foundations, Clarence Carter, “Blue Lou” Marini, Rufus and Carla Thomas, Freda Payne, Jack Peterson, Millie Jackson, Rosa King, Rhoda Scott, The All-Army Jazz All Star Ensemble, The Southwest Texas State University Jazz Band, The Corpus Christi State University Jazz Band, The Del Mar College Jazz Ensemble and is generally regarded as a sideman and studio player par excelance. He has written, performed and produced many radio commercials and film scores.

    Leon began shooting music videos in the 1970’s and has produced and directed large multi camera shoots for clients such as Stevie Ray Vaughan, PBS, and BBC. He expanded into intricately detailed high tech training films for corporations such as IBM, SBC and Motorola, who awarded Leon the OGM (from the Office of the General Manager) Award for excellence in training films an unprecedented three years consecutively. His training films are still in use globally today.

    His work as a cinematographer includes commercial work, feature narrative form, aerial cinematography and special effects compositing in all formats.

    Attention to detail and persistence of vision is a standard trademark of his work. Due to his range of expertise, he can seamlessly coexist in the creative and technical realm with an entrepreneurial sense of urgency that inspires rather than intimidates.

    Leon is accustomed to and prepared for large production responsibilities. He is prepared to guide your vision From Concept to Final Cut.
