Artist Detail
Rachel Boehm
Actor - Singer - Writer
About the artist: Rachel was raised in Austin, Texas. Her parents, each in their own ways, came from artistic backgrounds. Her passion for performing came as no surprise; and in fact seemed like a continuation of family traditions.
As a young girl, Rachel had been enrolled in various performing art programs: dance, piano... It was in eighth grade, however, that her fate was sealed.
She was bitten by the theatre bug when given the lead role in her school musical (Dorothy Brock in 42nd Street).
"There was a set of stairs backstage that led up to a platform center stage. I climbed them in my 1920's gown and heels in utter blackness. The fear of falling pushed aside any nerves of my upcoming "big number". When I was safely on the platform I stood for a moment breathing in the darkness. Then the lights came up. That was it. That moment. The beauty of the audience's silhouette, the heat from the bulbs. I can still feel the sensation of that moment."
In May of 2000 Rachel graduated from Westlake High School, and that August moved to Orange, CA to begin the Theatre program at Chapman University. Four years later she graduated with Honors and a BFA in Theatre Performance.
After graduating from Chapman she moved to Los Angeles. After working six years in LA, Rachel has returned to Austin where she continues to pursue her career with a sink or swim attitude.
