A Little Night Music
Georgetown Palace Theatre
One of Broadway’s most neglected masterpieces, the romantic and achingly beautiful A Little Night Music deals with the universal subject of love, in all its wondrous, humorous and ironic forms. In turn-of-the-century Sweden, middle-aged Fredrik Egerman brings his 18-year-old bride Anne to a play starring his former mistress, Desirée Armfeldt. Soon, Fredrik and Desirée resume their romance, incurring the wrath of her current lover, a pompous Count. The situation culminates in a weekend at a country estate, with Fredrik, Anne, Desirée and the Count in attendance, as well as Fredrik’s son (who is hopelessly in love with Anne), Desirée’s illegitimate daughter, the Count’s manic-depressive wife and the Egerman’s lusty maid. And there, under the summer night, things are set right.

She Loves Me
TEXARTS
She Loves Me is one of America’s most charming and heartwarming musicals with book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and music by Jerry Bock. “She Loves Me,” inspired the hit Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan film “You’ve Got Mail,” and inspired by the Jimmy Stewart film The Shop around the Corner and the 1949 Judy Garland-Van Johnson musical version In the Good Old Summertime. The plot revolves around Budapest shop employees Georg Nowack and Amalia Balash who, despite being consistently at odds with each other at work, are unaware that each is the other's secret pen pal met through lonely-hearts ads. The original Broadway production played in 1963, and the show enjoyed a West End production and award-winning revivals on each side of the Atlantic in the 1990s.

The Glass Menagerie
TEXARTS
The Glass Menagerie is one of America’s great plays, written by Tennessee Williams and performed as part of TexARTS’ professional Off-Broadway Series. The rather auto-biographical play was originally written for MGM and premiered in Chicago in 1944 and won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award in 1945. The Glass Menagerie was Williams's first successful play; he went on to become one of America's most highly regarded playwrights. Williams (whose real name is Thomas) is largely reflected in the main narrator character of Tom, who recounts his life with and escape from his Mother, Amanda, and his sickly and (supposedly) mentally ill sister Rose would be Laura (whose nickname in the play is "Blue Roses", a result of an unfortunate bout of Pleurosis as a high school student). This union production integrates some of the region’s finest talent and brings one of our greatest American plays and playwrights to life with depth and quality.
