The situation culminates in a weekend at a country estate, with Fredrik, Anne, Desirée and the Count in attendance, as well as Fredrik’s son (who is hopelessly in love with Anne), Desirée’s illegitimate daughter, the Count’s manic-depressive wife and the Egerman’s lusty maid. And there, under the summer night, things are set right.

She Loves Me is one of America’s most charming and heartwarming musicals with book by Joe Masteroff, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and music by Jerry Bock. “She Loves Me,” inspired the hit Tom Hanks/Meg Ryan film “You’ve Got Mail,” and inspired by the Jimmy Stewart film The Shop around the Corner and the 1949 Judy Garland-Van Johnson musical version In the Good Old Summertime. The plot revolves around Budapest shop employees Georg Nowack and Amalia Balash who, despite being consistently at odds with each other at work, are unaware that each is the other's secret pen pal met through lonely-hearts ads. The original Broadway production played in 1963, and the show enjoyed a West End production and award-winning revivals on each side of the Atlantic in the 1990s.

In funny, moving, engaging monologues, three sisters spin the tale of their family and an era. Their father, the eponymous carpetbagger, was a former Union soldier who used his post as county treasurer and tax collector to amass a Texas plantation of twenty thousand acres. Preserving that plantation through the vicissitudes of their lives becomes a central issue for his daughters. It's all about family secrets, tribal memories, sibling rivalry, and how change stalks our lives.
