HISTORY ISN'T ALWAYS FOUND IN BOOKS. SOMETIMES IT'S FOUND IN THE RAFTERS...That's exactly what was discovered in the empty theatre as the stage was being cleaned. One inadvertent pull on some rigging slowly lowered into view the original 1915, hand-painted, asbestos fire curtain. It had been hanging, forgotten for over 50 years. In near perfect condition, its pastoral scene painted by Toomey and Volland in St. Louis is just one more story behind the history of the Paramount Theatre. COME EXPERIENCE THE STORIES BEHIND THE HISTORY. We will condense nearly 100 years down to 50 minutes. Built in 1915 and still operating today, you'll get the stories behind this historic variety and vaudeville house; its performers, history and a few ghost stories too. Note: Ghost appearances are up to their discretion.

By combining sophisticated compositions and virtuosic improvising, the Grammy nominated group Kneebody has created a diverse, loyal fan base in the United States and Europe. Founded in 2001, Kneebody has built upon an impressive array of individual resumes and conservatory training to create a truly singular voice within the instrumental world.

With his two best known early pieces, Ecstatic Orange and Yellow Pages, written in 1985 while still a composition student at Yale, Michael Torke practically defined post-Minimalism, a music which utilizes the repetitive structures of a previous generation to incorporate musical techniques from both the classical tradition and the contemporary pop world. At 23, Torke cut short his graduate study to begin his professional career in New York City, where he was soon signed by Boosey and Hawkes (the publisher of Stravinsky and Copland), became an exclusive recording artist with Argo/Decca Records, and began his five-year collaboration with Peter Martins and the New York City Ballet. 

The Tokyo String Quartet has captivated audiences and critics alike since it was founded 40 years ago. Regarded as one of the supreme chamber ensembles of the world, the Tokyo Quartet-Martin Beaver and Kikuei Ikeda (violins), Kazuhide Isomura (viola) and Clive Greensmith (cello)-has collaborated with a remarkable array of artists and composers, built a comprehensive catalogue of critically acclaimed recordings and established a distinguished teaching record. Performing over a hundred concerts worldwide each season, the quartet has a devoted international following across the globe.

Freddy Carnes Productions presents "I Saw Fire: The Story of Cowboy Chris" a Texas Tall Tale for family audiences (recommended for children 5-up). It is the story of a boy who loses his pa and sister in a fire. He is raised by wolves and is finally reunited with his family. It stars Freddy Carnes as Cowboy Chris. This is a funny and touching musical about family, courage and hope. It has 10 new original songs by Freddy Carnes including "I Saw Fire" and "Old Paint". Children all over Central Texas have loved this story.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words… In the Spectacle, PGraph is currently performing Impromatic, a new mini-format inspired by randomly selected curious old photographs. Submit an old family photo (or just a favorite photo) of yours via this form for use in Impromatic! Ideal photos will feature people in them, but anything is welcome. The higher resolution they are, the better (but not tooo huge. big enough to fill up a computer screen without looking too grainy).

The Last Act Theatre Company will be staging an unforgettable night of adaptations from Edgar Allan Poe’s canon of enthrallingly visceral prose. LATco.’s Upon a Midnight Dreary will include Poe’s infamous The Conqueror Worm, The Cask of Amontillado, and The Tell Tale Heart. These uniquely chilling yarns will be dramatized in light of new relevance to today’s audience focusing on the most grotesque details of the human dilemma and examining the sanity of avoiding madness in an increasingly mad world.
