TexARTS produces top quality professional theater using union performers from New York, Los Angeles and throughout the region to give audiences inspiring, entertaining and memorable theatrical experiences. Prior productions have included “The Music Man” with three-time Tony nominee Rebecca Luker and her Broadway costar, Jim Walton; “Big River” with Broadway star Lawrence Hamilton; “Carousel” with Patrick Cassidy and “Damn Yankees” with Broadway stars Meg Gillentine and Nicholas Rodriguez – all at the Paramount Theater in Austin as part of TexARTS’ Broadway Family Series. The acclaimed “Off Broadway Series” at TexARTS’ Kam & James Morris Theater kicked off with the critically-acclaimed “Always… Patsy Cline” and the world premiere of TexARTS’ own “I’ll Be Seeing You” in 2008. The series has delighted audiences and drawn critical acclaim and is establishing the Capital Lakes Region as a center for great professional theater! The TexARTS Cabaret Series has included legend Shirley Jones at River Bend and a host of Broadway performers and other crowd-pleasing great talent.

It's the story of a prince who falls in love with a beautiful princess who has been turned into a swan by an evil magician. Only his love can break the spell!

      Amusing show of 20+ sung vignettes about the life changes and challenges of mid-life women and men.The talented ensemble especially Cathie Sheridan,Amy Nichols,& Jarret Mallon along with Kirk Kelso,Rudy Roberson,& Melita McAtee have enjoyable singing voices and the comedic timing needed for the clever lines/lyrics. The theater is intimate and with the simple, effective set the audience is focused on the actors. There is no plot. The actors portray new characters for each song in well flowing scenes ranging from irreverent to poignant. People laughed in recognition of themselves in hilarious portrayals, such as men as weekend warriors(loved the costumes), having various medical procedures, or reading about potential drug side effects. Even younger audience members enjoyed the humor. The piano accompaniment by Kyle Sigrest was beautiful-along with Trevor Detling on drums under musical direction by David Blackburn,the music never overshadowed the singing. Go spend some time in mirth filled crisis. Collapse

      I had the pleasure of watching TexArts' must-see production of Title of Show last night. The talented cast rises to the challenge of making a musical with a funny name, a set consisting of only 4 chairs and a piano, and relatively unknown material into a highly enjoyable 90 minutes of theatre. This show features some of the most hilarious songs I've ever heard (including the use of well placed profanity). This is a great show for anyone who has ever wanted to be on Broadway- or even just wanted to follow their dreams! Inspiring! Equal parts hilarity and heart! Highly recommended. Collapse

      Opening night Friday at TexARTS' "Always, Patsy Cline" was spectacular entertainment. This show delivers on all counts, music, talent, humor, storyline. The theater is the perfect venue for such a show --- you almost feel as if you're in a nightclub with tables and chairs set up as part of the audience. Everything is right about "Patsy". Selena Rosenbalm belts out Patsy Cline to perfection. You'll be stunned by the quality of her voice. Edie Elkjer plays Louise, Patsy 's Houston friend, with sassy humor and touching poignancy. The band is worth the ticket price alone, but you get so much more for this show than that, the lighting, the sound, the direction, the talent, professional quality all. The show runs through October 31 with tickets available Thursdays through Sundays. TexARTS is located on Lohmann's Spur in the Chair King Center. Absolutely fit this into your busy October ---- it's a winner! Collapse

Robin Lewis has charisma and his students, local Austin Starlets, seemed to put on their best for him. Broadway is in for a great future with this young talent. The piano playing and guest stars were excellent, and you felt part of a big professional show, but most engagingly up close, intimate, and personal. Collapse

      Wow, that was a great production. This is a very powerful play when performed at this level. So many nice moments. I particularly enjoyed the scenes with Laura and Tom's friend. He made this character seem almost likable despite what he does to Laura's world. Powerful stuff. But, it is Tennesee Williams after all. Collapse

      Let's face it community theatre is a roll of the dice..and Tennesee Williams though the text in infallible it can lend itself to some bad acting. Not with this production! This was a solid performance right down the line giving the audience the opportunity to experience a powerful classic. The Mother and the Gentleman Caller stand out as amazing and professional actors bookending a talented ensemble. Rarely, does one experience this level of professionalism locally in such a humble setting. Great set work as well. The backdrop had a wonderful installation of flowers resembling both the dresses and interiors of the era...very nice touch. In short, the play was solid and delightful. Collapse

      This charming production of "Menagerie" certainly surprised us. A relatively unkonwn theatre, Tex- Arts, has done a great job. How surprised we were and pleased to make the short journey. The cast is great. Babs George is in full bloom and gives a wonderful performance as Amanda. This is a role that every actress, no doubt, aspires to play and Babs brings her usual flare. What surprised my wife and I most was newcomer to Austin, James David Hart as the Gentleman Caller. Let’s hope his new school, The Austin Conservatory, is as strong as his acting. Hickey brings a strong take on Tom, finding a great deal of humor in a roll that is often played in a humorless way and director Michael Costello deserves a round of applause for his dynamic and touching staging. People will likely talk about this show all year. Collapse
