Sam Bass Community Theatre

The Sam Bass Community Theatre (SBCT) has been offering quality live theater to the Round Rock/Georgetown/Austin area for over twenty three years. They have a variety of theater during each season, with a careful eye towards providing a season that is well-balanced for all tastes. In addition to the regular theatrical offerings, they provide ongoing theater education through our Director's Workshop and our Youth Guild programs and theatre summer camps.

The children in the audience were so enamored by the characters, it was so cute to see. We highly recommend seeing this show if you can. Collapse

      This was a really fun family event. I could hear the little girl in the row behind me laughing and having a great time. Charlie was fabulous and Snoopy was hilarious.

      The set design by Kevin Scholtes is a MUST see, it adds beautifully to this Shakespearean retelling. Cici Barone is hauntingly beautiful, lively and mysterious as Ariel, the sprite helper to Prospera, played knowingly and beautifully by Susan Dickson (the Shakespearean text flows off her tongue). Emily Kennedy as Calibra is down right creepy with her monster voice. Lynn Beaver and Gene Storie nearly steal the show as the drunken airship passenger and butler. The lovers, Carrie Stephens and Jason Baiocchi, are sweet and Carrie does a particularly good job with the text and a fairly one dimensional role. Sean Hunter nails the pomposity of Gonzalo. Jordana Mohran and Nelly Ruiz de Chavez do a fine job and the entire cast LOOKS gorgeous in the inspired costumes designed by Roni Prior. The preshow MUSIC is to die for, DAMN Shazam for not recognizing it. Frank Benge has done a fine job directing a huge show, on an island no less, on a small stage. Bravo to all Collapse

      I saw this wonderful show with my daughter and my mother and we all LOVED it! There were times we were laughing so hard we were almost crying, and then times when we really were crying. Watching these friends at their reunions over the years was touching without being sappy. The cast was terrific, with truly outstanding performances given by Renee Brown and Jan Phillips. Collapse

      This play was surprisingly good. The players and the story were very entertaining. I was laughing nearly the whole time. Although it is pretty easy to make fun of white trash, they did a great job.

      I haven't laughed so hard in years! My daughter treated me to the show and what a treat it was. All of the actors are great and the story is funny but ultimately sweet. I especially loved when Raynard helped close the Christmas show with his rendition of the Christmas story. But there are just too many laugh out loud moments to name them all! I have already recommended the show to all of my friends. Collapse

      How do you classify an audience participatory play where you boo and hiss at the villain and cheer for the underdog? Fun! This play might have made the temperance movement more successful only because it makes you laugh at all of the characters--the righteous tea-toting traveler, the small town business owner who starts up his own tavern, the villainous fiend who wants to take advantage of anything of value whether it be money or virtue, the town simpleton who is wiser than most, the not so adoring but faithful wife who stands by her husband, and the pitiful wife who always wishes for the yester-years. The drunkard's daughter serves as the pivotal point as her melodramatic attempts to bring her father home actually succeed beyond her expectations. There's are many funny vaudeville moments with great choreographed dying scenes by two characters. The after-show ('olio') is also quite enjoyable with skits, the female cast dancing while one of the cast sings 'ain't she sweet' and solos. Collapse

      I have been to six plays previously & will attend more but not if they are anything like Sister Mary etc. The Actor's Nightmare was funny in many places but the end too depressing. The cast was great, as usual & I would give them 5 stars. I know you need to preform "all kinds" of plays, but in my opinion, these two were too "drastic" in proving a point. most sincerely, a fan Collapse
