      Hay Fever is a wee bit overdone... but I must concede that The Wimberley Players version displays both perfect casting and excellent comic timing. Linda Sriro handles the role of Judith well and with experience and Bob Elliottas is a perfect complement and contrast as her husband David. Of the remaining cast both Cindy and Amanda Forsyth display excellent facial expressions and enthusiasm. Most surprising and excellent is the acting display put on by Wimberley Playhouse newcomer Devon Birdsong in the role of Simon. In his sarcastically childish manner he glides about the stage in so enthusiastic a way that it's difficult not to enjoy his snide performance. All in all this play was well put together and directed by Laura Haygood who will hopefully continue to direct at the Wimberley Playhouse in future. I strongly recommend this production to anyone thinking about attending. Both my wife and I are considering attending it again. It is excellent! Collapse

      I had never seen one of Noel Coward's productions on stage, so I was interested to see the Wimberley Players' production of Hay Fever. Basically, it is about a family, the Blisses, who live in an idyllic, middle-class home in England. When the retired actress mother invites a house guest in unannounced, that triggers a series of events that turns their blissful lives into a screwball comedy. Overall, I thought there were funny moments, and that the production had potential, but it didn't quite live up to it. Specifically, I don't feel the actors' delivery of the text was not at sufficient or consistent pace to convey the humor in the script. One of the bright spots was when Simon Bliss tries to woo one of the house guests (Ashley Errico), but the tiny dog she was carrying did not take well to it. I don't know if the dog's antics were intended, but they certainly injected energy and humor into the story. Collapse

      There are stories that work and those that don't. Part of the reason this story works well in Wimberley is that it caters to the Wimberley crowd. At least the ones that come to Sunday matinees. The costuming for the most part was spot on. There was a fun story line that took a bit to set up even though one did not need it. It's not the cast fault at all as most to all delivered great performances. The story is considered a high farce and centering on the self indulging family of the Bliss - which is a nice play on words. Linda Sirio delivers a great performance which holds things together nicely. Amanda Forsyth is radiant as the daughter whos attempts at self improvement get undone by her human nature. Cindy Forsyth as Clara gets many of the laughs and deserving of all. Collapse

      wow, this show doesn't let up. from curtain to curtain it's non-stop action. perfect casting throughout. the 6 actors were outstanding in multiple roles. the 2 leads were so natural we thought they were actually married. very well done. their timing with each other was impeccable. terrific job. we found ourselves empathizing with them. where do they find such big talent in such a small town? the I LOVE LUCY style murder scene was absolutely hilarious. Wimberley has outdone itself. DON'T MISS THIS ONE!!! Collapse
