      Sitting through a production of A Brief Narrative of an Extraordinary Birth of Rabbits is much like strapping yourself into the Titan Roller Coaster at Six Flags; catch your breath before you sit down, because you may not have a chance to do so once the performance has begun. Set amidst a circus tent backdrop, this highly animated, quickly paced show was filled to the brim with action. Music filled the air, actors barked and meowed, birthed rabbits flew, 3 gynecological puppet commentators appeared between a 6 feet pair of female legs. I was afraid if I blinked or coughed at the wrong moment, I might miss something vital. And not just in the way of action. I knew underneath all the absurdity, that playwright, C. Denby Swanson, must stating something important. What kept me on my toes and my brain engaged was the challenge of enjoying the sideshow circus antics of the piece, but not becoming so immersed in the fun that I could no longer focus on the mystery of what was at the heart...more at nowplayingaustin.wordpress.com Collapse

      This is a work in progress so be prepared to use your imagination on how this could be a great production. All the performers have a tremendous amount of energy on display. The music performance with the full band is fun to watch. It’s hard to get into some of the solo stuff as it starts off in the middle of a long story, but a good chance to brush up on your mythology.       As a big fan of the cult classic film, I went in with some high expectations. Let me tell you now that all of these expectations were blown away. Campy, raunchy, evil, and funny as a dancing Zombie could be. The cast was phenominal, especially David Gallagher as the most badass demon killer ever, and Corley Pillsbury as the neverending pun throwing demon sister. Talented singers, great campy choreo, and some blood and guts galore. My advice......sit in the SPLASH ZONE!!!! Get your tickets now.....and COME GET SOME!! Collapse

      So I went to the show not knowing what to expect - I've never seen any of the Evil Dead movies. I was so surprised by how funny the show was!! I thought the cast was really great, with extra evil props to David Gallagher, who mixes leading man charm with great vocals and even greater comedic timing in the role of Ash. The choreography was perfectly campy. There were some minor sound issues, but overall a very fun evening at the theatre! Highly recommended for those NOT offended by gallons of blood and tons of "choice" words. Collapse

      Evil Dead Review Sappy songs of lust and gore, scenes of dancing ghouls galore, chain saw severing hand and head, spewing evil blood of the living dead. Lines of demons lost to unintelligible shrieks (a need for adjustments in the acoustical brief?) Cast and directors are gifted indeed who make Evil Dead’s script a theatrical feat.... Go see for yourself if it’s a trick or a treat. But buyer beware if you’re hoping like me, For another long running cult show, ala' Rocky. Collapse

      As an Evil Dead "virgin," I wasn't really sure if I would get this show, but the premise sounded hilarious so I had to see it. A lot could go wrong with a show full of singing and dancing demons but with the creative yet simple sets and effects and really talented, engaged cast of this one there are no hiccups. David Gallagher is a true leading man and carries the day with tons of energy and great comedic timing. All the singing was impressive, especially that of Gallagher, Corley Pillsbury and Kelly Bales. Pillsbury kept things rolling with her fully committed demon character, and the frequent gags on B-movie tropes didn’t get tiresome. Some of the undead were a little less thrilling than others but overall the cast and production delivered great fun. Take the splatter zone warnings seriously! Collapse

      This was my second dose of the sci-fi musical this year (which I find interesting since I didn't know that the genre existed prior to Yellow Tape's Warpstar Sexysquad). In Faster Than the Speed of Light, I found the music to be well-composed and the story line interesting. The three primaries gave their all and Clock provided some humorous interludes. I felt that the love triangle gave some great potential but left me wanting more of a conclusion at the end. The character chemistry and set design are great though and I look forward to seeing future collaborations between the creators Royce and Roy. Collapse
