ABOUT FUSEBOX Mission Fusebox champions new and innovative works across a variety of different art forms to catalyze audiences, ideas, and conversations. History/Programs For seven years, Fusebox has presented a diverse body of work, including visual art, music, literature, theater, dance, and everything in between. The intention is to create a dynamic platform for different artists from different backgrounds (different artistic disciplines/different geographies) to come together to share ideas and present work. Fusebox has grown into a citywide event of international significance, with over 30,000 people attending the 10-day festival each spring. The Fusebox Festival takes place in over twenty venues in central and east Austin. In addition to the artistic programming, we have launched a series of initiatives to help further spark conversation, including the creation of an arts writing symposium, a series of lunch-time panel discussions, a technology in performance series, a food and art series (which pairs artists and chefs), a site-specific music series, and a residency program (Machine Shop). Fusebox is a 501-c3 non-profit corporation and contributions to Fusebox are tax deductable. The festival has received a number of local and national awards and accolades including: • Best Public Art Show • Best Touring Theater Show • Best Touring Dance Show • Best Short Dance Performance • The Austin Critics Table Awards created a special award for Fusebox entitled “Have We Blown Your Mind Yet”. The festival has also been included in multiple Top Ten Lists in both the Austin Chronicle and the Austin American-Statesman. Several national publications have taken notice as well—the arts editor from Seattle’s Weekly paper The Stranger wrote, “America's most electric and engaged destination festivals happen in New York City (Under the Radar), Portland (TBA), and Austin (Fusebox).”
