Media Arts & Literacy Institute, Inc (MALI) is a domestic 501(c)3 corporation, organized to provide information, education and technical assistance about media literacy education and media arts production. We aim to assist in closing the digital divide in urban and rural areas for at-risk youth and adults. Our vision is to provide an educational and cultural alternative to the commercial film, music, literary and internet experience produced in mainstream media today; to celebrate and nurture the artistic values of media production; and to promote the production of media making by and for socially and economically diverse media makers who would otherwise have little or no access to this type of opportunity. These diverse communities include, but are not limited to: women, at-risk youth, communities of color, and the LGBTQ community.
