THEATRE

Speeding Motorcycle
February 14-March 22, 2008
Add Review/CommentThis out-of-this-world rock opera takes its inspiration from cult figure Daniel Johnston, a singer, songwriter and artist who first gained recognition in Austin during the 1980s. Anyone who’s ever enjoyed Johnston’s music or drawings will want to catch this exuberant celebration of his unique creativity. The quirky love story coupled with Beatles-inspired music was a hit at Houston’s Infernal Bridegroom Productions. Jeff Tartakov of Stress Records Museum of Love has selected works from his extensive collection of Daniel Johnston's art that tie in with the story of Speeding Motorcycle. Through the run of the how, Zach Theatre will display copies of these works by Johnston, a Whitney Biennial 2006 artist, in the lobby of the Kleberg Stage for the enjoyment of ticket-holding patrons of Speeding Motorcycle(before the production and at intermission). Helpful Information: $15 Wednesday Night Shows for the month of March 5-26.
