Thollam will perform solo piano improvisationally accompanying about a dozen contemporary dancers from the Austin community. The movement score the dancers will be performing is designed by Ellen Bartel of Spank Dance. The dancers have been given set of tasks to accomplish in one hour, to the tune of: ...“fall to the floor (at any speed) and start whispering your deepest secrets to the floor”, ...“perform spinning, turning and/or spiraling in slow motion”,...”face West and look at if you are seeing the sun set for the first time while swaying at any speed”...There is a total of 18 different tasks to be completed by the performers. Thollem is given the same list of tasks from which he may or may not choose to incorporate into his improvisation. Important Information: Clear Spring Studio is a shoe-free studio. There will be no seating provided at this event, bring a blanket or pillow to sit on.
