El Abandonado is based on the Book of Job. Joe, a wealthy importer, loses his wife and family in a tragic accident on Easter Sunday. Consumed with guilt he gives all his possessions to the church and lives as a homeless person. Four days before the following Easter he kidnaps a nun and holds her hostage to God for a miracle - the return of his family on Easter - the day of resurrection. This film, which screened at the Cine Las Americas International Film Festival in Austin last April, had been reedited and original music has been composed by Arles Estes. Mr. Estes has a master s degree in composition from the University of Texas. He has scored many films as well as written original music and sound design for theater. A discussion with the audience will take place after the screening. Be a critic and give the director your feelings on the film before it is sent to a distributor, who has requested the film, and other film festivals.
